Crossed by the Luy de Béarn river, Amou offers lovely canoe trips and, for the more adventurous, can be explored by microlight.
Famous for its foie gras, the Chalosse region in the heart of the Landes countryside reveals itself through its rolling green pastures. Just 15km away, you can visit the Gaujacq castle and 25km away, the Unesco World Heritage-listed Saint-Sever abbey.
The Chalosse Landes offers walkers a host of signposted trails, including the Limousin Way and the Puy en Velay Way, listed as the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de Compostela, from which you can admire breathtaking scenery.
The Landes also boasts a 106km coastline, famous surfing spots and renowned thermal resorts such as Eugénie-Les-Bains and Dax.
Less than 100 km away is the Basque country with Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Cap Breton... You'll be spoilt for choice, with the coastline full of surprises.
